Area Effect (AE) Debuffs

Also known as "Greens".

AE debuffs** are the debuffs that affect the radius area from the target enemy and affects only the targets linked to the targeted enemy. AEs have a range component and a effect radius component. All of the Dirges AE debuffs have a 25 meter range and a 15 meter effect radius.

Scenario: The Dirge is going to engage combat with a three-linked-mob encounter. Dirge roots a mob 20 meters away causing the other two mobs to run toward the Dirge. The Dirge targets one of these closer mobs and casts the AE debuff, only these 2 mobs receive the debuff, and the 3rd root mob is unaffected by the debuff since the 3rd mob was more than 15 meters away from the original target.

Unfortunately, these debuffs can resist at a frequent rate. You may cast the AE debuffs on a group of enemies, however, as an example, 2 out of 3 enemies may avoid being hit by the debuff. Rhythm Blade, an AA combat art ability, buffs the Ordination skill that reduces this resistability to ensure the debuffs land more reliably. So, cast Rhythm Blade early in the routine to ensure the debuffs land more reliably. Otherwise, precious cast time is lost due to the recast.

Debuffs do not stack** unless the debuff explicitly states in the description it can stack with multiple applications. Dirge debuffs are not allowed to stack; so, when multiple dirge debuffs are applied on a target, only the higher quality debuff, one that debuffs the most, is applied on the target.

Zander's Choral Rebuff and Clara's Chaotic Cacophony. I try to incorporate these two debuffs near the begining of my casting routine to ensure that autoattacks and hostile spells land more damage on the enemy. Troubador can AA buff the Zander's debuff. Ask your companion Troubador if they are casting Zander's at, or quite near, the begining of an encounter; if so, then the Dirge does not need to cast Zander's debuff.

Disheartening Descant and Daro's Sorrowful Dirge. I only make these debuffs a priority when the fight is a challenge for the tank or healers; otherwise, I cast these debuffs at the very end of my routine. Also, trauma AoEs are associated** with the enemy's primary attributes (that is either AGI or STR) so applying Disheartening Descant will have an affect on trauma AoE damage.
